Research

Inkjet printer generates images with small amount of droplets ejected from nozzles. The process is very simple, but it is difficult to understand because many complicated physics are related. The aim of our research is to make clear the phenomena.

Evapolation

In addition to pigment, ink contains many ingredients. Not only water but also high-boiling-point solvents and surfactants are included, and they affect evaporation phenomena. Our interest is to investigate the evaportion rate under various temperatures and humidities with various kinds of inks to make clear the phenomena.

Penetration

Penetration of ink into paper media is also complicated phenomenon, but should be made clear. Our interest is to investigate ink penetration with various media and ink properties.

Internal Flow of Droplet

Evaporation, temperature-distribution and surface tension induce internal flow, and pigments move due to this flow. The final image quality strongly depends on this internal flow. Our interest is to investigate the relation between the internal flow and the final image.

Dot-Formation

Final dot diameter depends strongly on the wettablity of ink on media. Our interest is to investigate the dot spread rate for various medias.
